Notes on this list
Each club here says on its own pages that newcomers are welcome or that it teaches the first moves. Niederräder TG runs a Monday afternoon course for children aged six to ten in the Bürgerhaus Niederrad, with a trial lesson possible at any time, and Schachforum Darmstadt 1994 offers introductory courses for children from the age of seven. In Gründau-Lieblos, SK Gründau opens its Friday training in the Kinzigtalschule with beginners, children and youth, and a trial session costs nothing.
Schachfreunde Mainz 1928 hold beginner and basic training for young players on Saturday afternoons, Schachfreunde Hünstetten start their Monday in Kesselbach with a group for young beginners, and TV 1887 Hochstadt in Maintal trains children from about eight on Wednesdays. For adults, SV 1926 Fechenheim says newcomers can learn the game at its Friday evenings, SC Reinheim – Groß-Bieberau welcomes guests from beginner to expert, and SG Wildsachsen and SC Frankfurt-West name beginners as welcome too.
