Notes on this list

These clubs state that visitors are welcome or that their evening is open to all. SC Matt im Park meets on Mondays in the AWO centre in the Nordend, where guests need no registration and the first-Monday blitz tournament has no entry fee; SC Frankfurt-West in Zeilsheim asks for no membership in a newcomer's first three months, and the Blindenschachklub Frankfurt lets visitors drop in on Tuesday afternoons. Königsspringer Karben calls its Monday evening one for everybody, and SG Wartturm Schaafheim keeps an open playing evening on Fridays in term time.

Further out, Schachfreunde Mainz 1928 invite guests to their Schachschobbe on the first Saturday of the month, SK 1950 Geisenheim opens a rapid tournament to visitors, and the Schachvereinigung Oberhessen in Echzell-Bingenheim welcomes players young and old on Friday evenings. The BKA Wiesbaden chess department plays at the Hessian police school, where guests are asked to bring an identity card. Silence on a club's own pages is not a refusal: its entry then shows "not given in the sources".
